I just read an article by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard called "Shipping flashes early warning signals again" and in it talks about the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) and its relations to raw materials pre-production and the its predictive nature in relations to the economy. I'm new to all of this (1-2 years) and I was wondering if the BDI could be used as helpful statistic to support ABCT? Are there other statistics close to initial productive stages that are easily accessible and do they sync up with ABCT?

Thanx!
