There seems to be a long list of stuff the government wants us to be scared of.

I have trouble keeping up sometimes:

- the flu...bird flu, h1n1....flu in general....

- terrorism....it can strike from anywhere....from anyone...even from home grown terrorists....

- economic collapse....prices could fall so low everyone would go crazy...prices could rise too high...jobs can be lost...greedy businessmen and bankers could steal billions of our dollars....

- snakeoil salesmen....they could sell us something that could harm us....or worse...kill us....

- vitamins and supplements...they could harm us and even kill us if we are not careful about what we purchase...

the list goes on and on....

please add some more...

Not using a government-approved bank for anything to do with money.

Using money that isn't government-approved.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
