This Youtuber (mr1001nights) is a Noam Chomsky protege of some sort. He constantly raises the point (along with Chomsky), that during Spain's history, slaves standards of living were improving, therefore does that mean slavery was good?

Can someone explain what he is referring to and some resources/ideas to counter this? I'm not well polished on the history of slavery and spain.

Here's a link to one of his videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/mr1001nights#p/u/142/i_d8v5P_5KM

Edit your first thread instead of making a new one.

That is what he says in response to utiliarian arguments.  His position is that freedom has its own value.  By freedom I mean communism.

I actually liked his video. It is refreshing to see someone respond to an intellectual challenge without being overcome by his passions. In my experience with socialists, this is very rare indeed.
