I read that the Pollack jokes in America originate from the German immigrants who carried them over from Europe. There was a certain level of animosity between the Germans and Poles in Europe and as Germans emigrated to America they carried their picture of Poles with them. But as they were so numerous this stereotype was transplanted from the German Americans across to all Americans.
