An amazing article, which corroborates many an Austrian theory.
The quiz: Which part of the article is incorrect from an Austrian viewpoint?

Love it! Though maybe this should have been on the low content thread.
Freedom has always been the only route to progress.
this doesn't strike me as particuarly austrian at all. but it was a very fun read.

The Austrian theme is very underground. That govt solutions make the problem worse. like the ethanol. That things done just for the sake of "being green" without regard to unintended consequences, will fail.
Anyone notice the one definately non Austrain thing there?
When people do things for the sake of feeling green they per definition ignore the consequences. Since the purpose of doing it has nothing to do with the consequences, they usually ignore the consequences. Actions that are "socially conscious" are practically always socially destructive.
Smiling Dave: The Austrian theme is very underground. That govt solutions make the problem worse. like the ethanol. That things done just for the sake of "being green" without regard to unintended consequences, will fail. Anyone notice the one definately non Austrain thing there? Maybe you mean the 'stealing' jobs thing? VforVoluntary.com | Youtube.com/Nielsio | Reddit.com/r/austrian_economics | Post Points: 20
btw,
this picture used in the Volunteering overseas chapter..
Is actually in Hong Kong; not exactly a place of destitudes.
Picture made by me:
The one about volunteers overseas causing economic harm. Governments are capable of flooding markets with subsidised goods, but it doesn't make sense to say that a bunch of volunteer charity workers are causing all the houses to be rickity and the construction industry to suffer. If people wanted/could afford to pay someone to build them a house, they would do so... Unless government regulations in the poor countries pertaining to 'commercial' construction differ from charity construction, which is quite likely.
Neilsio and James,
Yep, that's what I saw.
