Do you think it's a bad idea to submit papers to journals if you are trying to get a job outside of academia and economics? I'm torn between economics and a few kinds of financial careers. One of the problems is interviewers asking me about achievements and I think publication would be a good example, but it though it would demonstrate commitment, achievement, etc. even if the nature of the work is deemed to translate to the kind of work I'd do if they gave me the job, it may make them think I'm likely to leave to go back to academia.
What do you reckon?
Sam: ...it may make them think I'm likely to leave to go back to academia.
...it may make them think I'm likely to leave to go back to academia.
Absurd. By the same logic, you should also try not to appear too smart or desirable because you'd be more likely to leave and work for someone else.
