Somewhere below the 90th sub-floor of the Pentagon, two four-star generals argue in a conference room:

General A: "But we can't get the President and Congress to agree to a draft. Apparently, it's political suicide for them. How can we start a land-invasion of Iran without a draft??"

General B: "Hm, good point. Maybe we can launch a really good recruiting advertising program and then they'll sign up voluntarily!"

General A: "No, we already tried that. The National Guard has been running these Kid Rock ads to no avail. If Kid Rock can't get them to sign up voluntarily, no one can. He's an American Warrior!"

General B: "Shit. Well, that leaves us no option but to invoke the Doomsday Protocol."

General A: (gasps) "You can't be serious?"

General B: "Yes, it's our only choice."

General A: "You mean we have to just nuke the whole world?"

General B: "No, no, that's the Peace-And-Love Protocol. We would never codename that Doomsday Protocol, too obvious."

General A: "Ohhhh, oh, I must be confused, refresh my memory on the Doomsday Protocol."

General B: "Well, basically, it works like this. First, we instigate an economic collapse through the Federal Reserve. This will drive up unemployment, particularly among young people. We combine this with offers of all-expense-paid college tuition in exchange for a four-year contract. But this will only work for the enlisted ranks and get the least-desirable recruits.

So, the second phase is to expand college loan programs and lure the smarter, unemployed kids to sign up for massive student loans for ridiculous degrees which they will never be able to repay. Then, we offer student-loan forgiveness in exchange for a four-year contract. Voila."

General A: "That's brilliant. We will be able to stage a land invasion of Iran after all!"
