Medical socialism/bureaucracy in the Weimar Republic?

According to this, there was at least some medical bureaucracy in the Weimar Republic, but it doesn't really specifiy to what extent or give a comparison.  I believe that Bismarck established national health insurance, but that was before WWI.  Was Bismarck's system of national health insurance repealed and replaced with bureaucracy (regulations) for the Weimar Republic?

Was the medical sector in the Weimar Republic run most like it is in Germany today, like it is in the U.S. today, or was it closer to free than both of those?

I was asking because the Weimar Republic's Constitution doesn't seem a whole lot different than the U.S. Federal Constitution other than that Germans were binded by the Treaty of Versailles... WWI sucked, that's for sure.
