What if President Elect Obama selected you as his economic adviser, you have complete control of the economy, he will OK any suggestion you make, your decisions are final, your job starts tomorrow.

You are allowed to hire 5 people to your team who would they be and why ?

Bonus question: What would be your first 5 decisions in this role, and how would you implement them ?

Alex Jones - We need someone loud.

Jesse Ventura - We need someone who has killed.

Max Keiser - You can never have enough loud guys.

Peter Schiff - We need someone who says that Americans are broke.

Bill Clinton - We need someone who can get the chicks.

Decision #1 - Send Paulson and Bernanke to Gitmo.  By airplane.

Decision #2 - Layoff 50% of the US government.

Decision #3 - Fire 49.9% of the US government

Decision #4 - Sell the White House to the Chinese and tell Obama to move into a Holiday Inn Express (BUY AMERICAN!)

Decision #5 - Cancel all current and future military/foreign policy expenditures.  Use the money to send fruit baskets to countries that America has decimated, manipulated or tortured.  Millions of fruit baskets (BUY AMERICAN!)

Robert Murphy, Robert Higgs, Joseph Salerno, Michael Rozeff, and Peter Schiff.  (If I could appoint international folk, I would get Jorg Guido Hulsmann and Jesus.

...Huerto De Soto, of course.

I would hire:

Arnold Kling

Hal Varian

Paul Romer

Donald Boudreaux

George Selgin

My four year plan would include:

Allow opt-out of Social Security and eliminate payroll taxes as a "stimulus" plan.

Kill the war on drugs immediately.

Lower corporate and income tax rates gradually over a 4 year period.

Cut military spending in half, close and sell foreign military bases, and use the money for paying the national debt.

Create a transition plan to move from government monopoly of currency to competitive currency markets (abolish the Fed).

You guys are all crazy!  I mean, the answer is so obvious:

1.  Paul Krugman - He's so good at equations!

2.  Arthur Laffer - This guy saw it all coming years ago!  He said we'd have a decent slow down!

3.  Nancy Pelosi - This woman is a shining example of what it means to be a great Congresswomen with her undying support of Israel.  If we give them more money it will stimulate their spending on American goods!

4.  Ben Bernanke - Only the greatest Fed chairman in history, need I say more?

5.  Henry Paulson - We need a Wall Street insider to calm the markets.

How could you guys pick anybody else?

Now, the first 5 orders of business!

1.  Raise the corporate tax rate to 90% - we need to bring home jobs from overseas!

2.  Give a $4.3 trillion stimulus plan to the economy - spending must increase!

3.  Set the Fed Funds target rate at -12% - a strong economy needs investment!

4.  Set wage/price floors to increase annually

5.  Create another 10 million government jobs, mostly directed at helping the environment

Yeah that's it!  Let's see any of you evil capitalists beat my economic blue print!

P.S.  - Your sarcasm detector should be beeping violently by now :)

After some thinking I suppose I would have to hire:

1.Ben Bernanke so I would have a familiar face to show around,

2. Kaspar Oja so I would have a new fresh to demonstrate my willingness towards fresh ideas,

3. John McCain to show that the two parties can get a long

4. Micky Mouse to show that I stand for American values

and finally

5. Jon Stewart for PR

After that I would get on my new Five-point program to reform the state and bring prosperity...

Step 1 - I would make the United States available for privatization

Step 2 - I would set the requirements for the privatization of the state so that only one person on the planet would be able to do it

Step 3 - I would write the state to my name

Step 4 - I would nationalize all real-estate and valuable metals and jewels

Step 5 - I would order the FED to annually print hundreds of trillions dollars and to distribute it to any one who wants it. Just to keep the public happy.

One night I dreamed of chewing up my debetcard - there simply is nothing like hard cash in your pocket!

Lew Rockwell- 30 day plan

Pascal Salin- to make the French loving socialist academia happy

Jeffery Tucker- to stage interviews

Hans Herman Hoppe- to convince Americans that Obama's children should be dictators

that Laffer curve guy- and the bell curve guy

Paul Krugman- good advice on what not to do

Step 1: institute 30 day plan

Step 2: Privatize Washington Monuments, most likely becomes a cell phone tower

Step 3: complete open borders

Step 4: Auction off the government printing presses

Step 5: cancel all debts?

do we get free cheezeburger in socielism?

You realize this is going to to leave a little more than 25% of the current government?  Big Smile

1. Robert J. Barro 2. Walter Block 3. James Buchanan 4. Donald J. Boudreaux 5. Richard M. Ebeling I would eliminate the dept. of education. elminate social security. Eliminate homeland security. Eliminate corporate personhood, which would, in essence, eliminate corp taxes. Eliminate income tax & user fees. Eliminate import/export tariffs...

Dude, that's crazy. For the first time in forever, I took notice of my "favorites" thing on my profile, and visited this exact post.

Our subconscies (is this the plural form of 'subconscious'??) must be channeling eachother telepathically.. or something.

The obvious question that nobody is asking......

if you believe in making government smaller .... why would you HIRE ANYONE???

Most devout libertarian economists will most likely volunteer their advice to help you decide which million of beaurocrats to FIRE each day.
