I have made a post here explaining how to get some of this functionality back.

http://notreason.com/mises-community-quote-workaround/

Let me know if pictures would be helpful.  If you have any questions, ask here.

Big thanks to Nir for helping make this happen.  smiley

E. R. Olovetto has also come up with a solution that allows you to be selective with what you quote.  That can be found here.

PS, I would appreciate if people would bump this when they read it, so we can make sure lots of people see it over the next week or so.  Thanks.

I had the idea of the bookmarklet to reload the page with the quote added in automagically.  Nir sorted out the javascript to make it happen because he is brilliant.

That's my site.  It badly needs a cleanup.

For those of us (me) who are not computer literate.  What is the "bookmarks tool bar in the browser?"   Picture please?  (I'm embarrased to say I am probably the only one this ignorant)

What browser do you use Chloe?  The name of it, and the version # would help me.  I can show you pics of this.

And you don't need to be embarassed.  It is a little techy, this isn't a popular technique.

Why don't they just make the "quote" button at the reply screen work?  Or do you know a way to use it?  Any time I've clicked it nothing happens.

The format of manually typing in

doesn't always work.

You're welcome LS.

DD5, it should always work. If you get something about "non-matching quote blocks" or something, you probably typed it wrong. 99% of the time that has happened to me I missed a quotation mark, bracket, or whole "/quote"

It's not easy to do.  Technically, javascript has no domain to pull a favicon for.  I found a hack, but I don't know if we will bother doing it.

Not a problem chloe.  Happy to help.

I had to do it in IE8 to see how it should be done.

You right click on the link, Mises Quotes on my website.  Choose "Add to Favorites"

It will pop up a security alert, "You are adding a favorite that might not be safe.  Do you want to continue?"

Choose YES.

Then add the favorite, and CREATE IN

Favorites Bar

Let me know if that helps.

If you compose your posts in Microsoft Word, then it will automatically replace any quotation marks with curly-left or -right quotes, which don't work in this (I tried it). You have to use straight quotes.
