The Intellectual Revolution is in Progress

Have you signed up to be a member of the Ludwig von Mises Institute? I did at my first conference in San Francisco and believe me it is certainly worth doing. I received a lovely pamphlet 'The Free Market Reader' every month with articles by our favorite scholars. Not only are you helping to advance the cause of liberty and helping bolster the funds at LvMi which make things like this forum possible but they also give back to you writings ablaze with intellect, begging to be read and disseminated. Don't miss your chance to sign up today. Check your value scale and move becoming a member of LvMi to number one [ not cardinally ]

Oh sure, that's the idea. we just ordered the card printer on Friday. Pricey piece of equipment actually but the results will be great.

Have you guys draw up a design or are you open to input? An interesting image would be three busts maybe in the center or in the upper left of Mises, Rothbard and Hayek. Have the words Ludwig von Mises Institute Membership Card on the bottom. Or maybe personalize the card to the interests of people like have an economics card, a history card, a philosophy card etc. Maybe have the Virgil creedo at the top or maybe 'Peace, Property, Liberty'

Add-on: Or maybe a card specifically with Mises, Rothbard, Hayek and other notables like on the T-shirts. Plus you can get specific quotes like under the bust. That would be really cool.

Basic membership gets you access to Mises U. next summer right? I was thinking of joining in the next couple months and attending.

Can I join from the UK?

The difference between libertarianism and socialism is that libertarians will tolerate the existence of a socialist community, but socialists can't tolerate a libertarian community.

Will they include RFID chips so that LvMI can track our movements? :D J/k.

You help fund the institute to make things like the forum possible. The daily articles, the blogs, the forum, this is all due to charitable donations. So by becoming a member you are helping that, which is helping the cause of liberty in a way, and you get the Free Market Reader. You may feel it is a small difference or perhaps a big difference but the point is that by helping the institute you are making a difference.

I've been enjoying the FreeMarket pamphlet for several months and I plan to renew. I also purchased some cool calendars to give out as Christmas presents to my liberty-loving sibs.

I'm a bit out on this subject.  Is the Free Market Reader a monthly publication?

Yes it does.

You can go as long as you're a member? I mean, you don't need to be a college student, right? I'm only in high school (I'm seventeen), and I would love to attend it.

I signed up last month.  Not sure I could ever make any events or whatevs, but glad to have donated 50$ to Mises for all the wonderful information they provide, I am far from ungrateful, I really appreciate the Mises Institute for its contributions and its wonderful staff.  I might donate much more in silver at a later time, if they take silver.  I have a ton of it.

You observe, but you do not see.

Just take it out of the money the government (IRS) "gives" you.

I've always figured LvMI makes a little something off of store sales so I put off the membership thing until later.  Is that not the case?

I signed up, but I have not seen the monthly pamphlet.

I checked yes for not being a previous member. Perhaps that was interpreted as my contribution being a pure donation and not a membership subscription?

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't anyone who answers here already a member? It does not seem like anonymous people can post here.

Not a member of the forums. A member of the Ludwig von Mises Institute itself.

Do you have to be a member of the Mises university to receive benefits from being a member?

And also do you get any cool stuff from being a member?

What is the status of those membership cards? Do overseas members, like myself, even get one?
