Just came across this which ties in great with the Juan Williams thing-

http://studentsforliberty.org/blog/social-change-theory/

"Thus, as Leonard Read used to say, politicians and political change is simply a lagging indicator of the state of intellectual opinion."

Which I was linked to from this blog

http://anthonyhennen.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/green-subsidies-and-social-change-theory/

He says, "Political changes are lagging, not leading indicators."

Microsoft's Principal Researcher, Bill Buxton has made his huge private collection of tech gizmos and gadgets available to be viewed by the public. For those that can't go see it, he has put it all online with detalied info about each item, including his personal notes on each one.

His thoughts about the 1968 TV remote control called the Space Command SC 600-X are especially interesting. It sounds like something Jeffrey Tucker would have written:

This remote control is from the days when television was starting to take a solid grip. It is a reminder of the importance of transaction cost. Every button on the remote was already on the TV. So why spend extra money for features that you already had? The reason is that if the new redundant approach lowers the cost differential of usage enough, they are no longer the same features. They will be used differently and change the nature of both the beast and the experience. Not only did the remote save us from getting out of our comfortable chair, it thereby resulted in a change in the very nature of television: programming, script writing, cinemaphotography, editing, and the whole economic model in terms of commercials. Not bad for a few redundant buttons!

Progress!

Lol, China's government builds giant empty cities to create phony GDP growth. There are said to be 64 million empty apartments in China, while millions of people lack proper housing. So much for the efficient allocation of resources under central planning. TVP anyone?

Funny thing is (around minute 11), the poor people who can't afford houses blame speculators and want the government to intervene. Housing is a human right!

Robin Carson, I'm No Communist, 1952

We're living in a country that's the finest place of earth
But some folks don't appreciate this land that gave them birth
I hear that up in Washington they're having an awful fuss
'Cause Communists and spies are making monkeys out of us

The bureaus and departments have been busy night and day
They're figuring out just how we gave our secrets all away
And Congress has appointed a committee so they said
To find out who's American and who's a low-down Red.

They call them up to Washington to speak for Uncle Sam
But when they ask them what they are, they shut up like a clam
I wish they'd take and put me on the witness stand today
I'd yell so loud old Stalin could hear me all the way

Refrain: I'm no Communist, and I'll you that right now
I believe a man should own his own house and car and cow
I like this private ownership, and I want to be left alone
Let the government run its business and let me run my own

Our government is bigger than it ever was today
The more they hire to work for it, the more they have to pay
Our public servants should be proud and honest you would think
Instead of taking bribes and dressing up their wives in mink

The taxes keep on going up of that there is no doubt
But still they just can't take it in as fast as they dish it out
Our national debt is monster size and growin' every day
Our children's children, still unborn are gonna have to pay

Our dollar used be the soundest money on this earth
But now two bucks won't even buy a good old dollar's worth
Unless we stop inflation and take care of what we've got
The Communists may win the fight and never fire a shot

Refrain: I'm no Communist, and I'll you that right now
I believe a man should own his own house and car and cow
I like this private ownership, and I want to be left alone
Let the government run its business and let me run my own

Can someone help me with this?:

There is some inspirational (web?) entrepreneur guy and video(s) out there somewhere. I've seen a little bit from that guy in the past and he seemed to know what he was talking about. I'm asking for someone else who's asking me how to be more free by working for himself.

Anyone know the guy's name/link?

Totally new kind of input method for mobile phones.

Very interesting and can potentially work very well (after the learning curve).

But sadly.. PATENT PENDING http://www.the8pen.com/legal.html ("Please be aware that any form of copying the 8pen™ violates intellectual property, and may result in legal charges").

Seems like a good idea, the 8pen, but it might be difficult to get used to. At least people are thinking of better ways to type on smaller devices. I don't see why, actually, we couldn't just use brain waves. They've been able to move robotic arms through brain waves.

This is real transparency: the state acting in it's true colors. Of course it doesn't give a damn about following its own rules.

When will people realize this? Being on a long leash does not make you a free man.

Freedom has always been the only route to progress.

Google now lists movies. Under documentaries you'll only find politically correct ones, much like what you'll see on regulated television channels:

Robert Blumen had a series of posts on the Chinese ghost town phenomenon back in 2009.  Then in December Jeff Tucker followed up with a link to a 15 min documentary that followed the story of the largest mall in the world.  Then Israel Curtis had one just a month ago on both.

Delicious!

I can outright hear how their political indoctrination is grinding up against their unwillingness to apply the same logic to their GPA.
