The MisesWiki organizes a contest: the 2011 article improvement drive. During the whole month of September, contestants will be awarded points for their contributions. All participants will be honored, but the one with the most points at the end of the month will receive a sparkling $50 gift certificate for the Mises Institute Shop!

BUMP! September is almost here!
Update:
The contest has started off quite nicely, but there is still plenty of space - in fact, with a little effort you can easily win it - join now!
And it's official: the user "Matthew" became the winner of the September contest after a surprising finale. Besides other updates, 33 new pages have been created thanks to the contest alone! http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/MisesWiki:2011_article_improvement_drive/September
Of course, the improvement drive continues in October as well - see if you can do better! http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/MisesWiki:2011_article_improvement_drive/October
Congratulation to all participants, let's get even more of them. :)
BUMP! if anybody wants to make a last-minute entrance into the October contest, now would be the perfect time. With a grand total of 1 participant there is still plenty of space to take part - and win.
Is there a November Wiki improvement drive?
Why, does anybody want to take part in it? :)
If there is interest, we can definitely start another round.
I will be busy until the end of October but should have some more time during November.
More competition is welcome!
need to get the word out about this. I haven't been to Mises U, but I think it would make sense to take advantage of the young kids labor to have them write/edit X number of pages for the Mises wiki as part of graduating, when they are down there. Mises wiki has great potential but isn't much of a resource quite yet.
Well, I'm trying to get the word out every now and again, but help would be very much welcome. :)
Good news: the October contest has been won by the undefeated champion Matthew: http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/MisesWiki:2011_article_improvement_drive/October And another contest has just started for November: http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/MisesWiki:2011_article_improvement_drive/November Congratulations to the winner! We clearly need somebody to challenge him. :)
He obviously has a monopoly that needs to be broken up. The market entry barriers are insane
Fight the monopoly! :D
We all know that history definitively tells us that it is impossible to use consumer choice and activism to break the power of the Robber Barons (™).
But alright, I shall join in the fun.
Good to see you on board!
Where do we post out November improvements on the Wiki?
Right on the November page - just make a nice little section for your stuff, we'll take care of the points. (See here for an example.)

Hi Wheylous,
how are things going? (Should I create an entry on the page for you?)
Cheers,
P.
Haha, you overestimate me. Currently I am at the stage where I cower in fear by looking at Wikipedia articles and marveling at how woefully inadequate any article I make would be. Ah, well, I guess I can create stubs initially and then improve them with time :P
That's really the idea - start small and poke at it every now and again. Besides, there's no need to keep an eye out on Wikipedia - plenty of material around!
If one may ask, how is the section on history of Standard Oil going? (Or do you have something different in sights?)
I am currently focusing more on some other aspects of the Gilded Age. Sorry. The history simply isn't that important at the moment to me. There are simply a lot of names to slap together for the history and I don't believe that my efforts would be best spent doing that work.
That's okay. I've polished the article some more, looking forward for more stuff from you!
The November contest has been won by our triple champion Matthew! http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/MisesWiki:2011_article_improvement_drive/November And another contest has just started for December: http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/MisesWiki_talk:2011_article_improvement_drive/December Congratulations to the winner! Is there anyone who can take up the challenge? :)
I'll take up my sword once more.
Excellent!
