http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/world/10356471/iran-says-could-deploy-navy-near-u-s-coast-report/ Why would Iran do this? They are playing right into the warhawks plan to invade Iran. And surely, the Iranian pres has to know he will be hunted and killed. He is smart, no?

Like the arrogant powers that are present near our marine borders, we will also have a powerful presence close to American marine borders,

What now, neocons?

We should thank the man, he's arguing our side :P Unless, of course, the warhawks get war. Then oh boy.

"We should thank the man, he's arguing our side :P Unless, of course, the warhawks get war. Then oh boy." He's just going to get himself killed. He should know this. War will only mean his country's military will be taken out and he will be hunted down like a dog. And then executed. he knows this. So, why is he playing into their plan? Would could Iran possibly do to avoid being destroyed? Give in to the free market and strip away regulations and harsh taxes? Make Iran grow by shrinking their government? Make them become so business friendly that American businesses will move there?

I highly doubt the US would attack Iran for just this. If it does, China and Russia would draw their battle axes.

This is saber rattling. And please do not make the mistake of buying into the American exceptionalist propaganda that depicts a universe where our military is invincible. In the real world, we have depleted our resources for making war, and that enormous quantity of treasure is what really set us apart. Tactically and strategically, the US has a lot to learn.

I must be in the right place, then. Let me just say, it is quite upsetting to be told "take initiative and train your subordinates" then get sent to different schools for months, so I can learn all the stuff uncle sam wants me to take back to my unit, and then to not even be permitted to perform the original task, "take initiative and train" my guys...inefficiency doesnt even begin to describe it. Its almost like it defines an extremely efficient process wherein the goal is destroying wealth. 100% efficiency, yay! Except for all the "stolen government property" that ends up on the black market. At least someone turns a profit....

More likely all that training you went through is all for appearances, so the powers that be (or at least the higher-ups) can claim that they don't want soldiers who are more or less perfectly and unthinkingly obedient. After all, if (more) people understood that military training turns people into drones, military enlistment rates would likely drop. That wouldn't be good for the bottom line, now would it?

Don't be surprised if the Iranian Navy experiences "accidents", especially if it's believed the ships carry some form of nuclear weapon and intend to instigate another Cuban missle crisis.

Other than that, it would be no different than North Korea's submarine fleet.  They'll be free to go where they please, but will be monitiored and confronted if they go outside international waters.

Fun part will be when they run out of fuel.

I think for the most part they'd like an escort for the nuclear weapons and what not they'd like to export to Nicaragua.
