Singularity University: A School for Entrepreneurs Who Want to Change the World

Founded in 2009 by Ray Kurzweil and Peter Diamandis, Singularity University is a start-up university in Silicon Valley. SU's mission is "...to assemble, educate and inspire a cadre of leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies to address humanity's challenges."

Singularity University is not your father's college.

In August of 2011, Reason.tv's Paul Feine and Alex Manning traveled to Singularity University to get to know a few of the 80 students who participated in SU's 10-week interdisciplinary summer graduate program. We encountered a fascinating group of young entrepreneurs who have big plans to use technology to help the world's poor...and make a profit!

Approximately 6 minutes.

At 9:45 Bernanke gets asked a question about Ron Pauls view the Fed, he then continues to say at 10:50 that "the gold standard did not create price stablity over the short run", But what about the long run!!!!

This is just excellent.  Simple, easy to follow, great visuals, important lesson...and the examples they use are perfect even for leftists.

I don't know what you mean...but you think you could at least remove the embedded video from your quote?  It makes the thread cumbersome

@JJ: Nice find on the "anti-dumping" vid. Someone needs to make an animated version of I, Pencil similar to that vid.

An incubator is where startups go to learn and grow their business enough for VC money, etc., and they get offices and other resources in a common setting with other startups. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_incubator

A neat Rothbard interview I stumbled upon in the LewRockwell.com archives (with some comments on Friedman that I liked):

Steven Crowder may have crossed the line from being a useful idiot to an actual useless idiot.

Can anyone distinguish a point in any of this?  Or was this just an excuse for him to scratch his acting itch and his need to make fun of people he disagrees with, at the same time?

Cain Talks Libya, Pulls A Perry

"So in the Perry aftermath, is everyone now going for the sympathy "I am just as big an idiot as Dubya" card, or are all Republican candidates seriously insane and/or raving, deranged lunatics? Will it seriously be that difficult to give Ron Paul a full body botox, cut off his frontal lobe, have him grope several women, promise to bomb someone or something, execute a few hundred illegal immigrants, and see him gain 200 extra pounds? Because if that is what it will take to make him "appeal" to the general Joe Sixpack, so be it: if America ends up with one of these other muppets it is doomed. Doomed."

So, Tay Zonday (of Chocolate Rain fame) made a song about the economy.  There's some good, along with some bad.  He makes some comments about how product break down more cheaply and keep you buying stuff on credit and whatnot, but what the hey, it's just a youtube video:

Anyone keeping up with this internet censorship hearing?  I logged into Tumblr and saw that everything was blacked out for 5 seconds before I was redirected to their page about the censorship hearing (nice creative touch).

I had always been impressed by the fact that there are a surprising number of individuals who never use their minds if they can avoid it, and an equal number who do use their minds, but in an amazingly stupid way. - Carl Jung, Man and His Symbols

Haven't heard about this hearing until I visited Mozilla's webpage. I can't imagine it really happens. When will the results of that hearing be announced?

Test your knowledge of prominent people, major events and other important facts in the news by taking our short 13-question quiz. Then see how you did in comparison with 1,168 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions in a national survey conducted Sept. 30-Oct. 11, 2011 by the Pew Research Center.

Indeed :)

As a libertarian, I did nothing. In the end  inflation rate dropped to 0,9%, unemploymen slightly increased to 5,4%. Funny, in the middle of the term stock crash hit economy; without intervention unemployment rate readjusted in a couple of quarters.
