Has the no-3G been a problem for you?

No. I just transfer the books from my PC. I got it mainly for reading, so the lack of 3G doesn't really matter.

Nope, just a video from an online friend of mine. I can, however, get you in touch with him if you like.

Interesting interview of a defected KGB agent, dating from 1985. I somehow strongly doubt that he was really a defector but in any case I don't think he's bullshitting in this interview. I believe there is and will continue to be a policy to bring the American public to heel. America was too free for too long and this created a serious crisis for the ruling Elite in every part of the world. If such a small government is good enough for Americans and consistent with the highest levels of productivity and prosperity, why isn't a small government good enough for everyone else?

But I think the process has been underway since long before the Soviets were around, since at least the founding of the Federal Reserve but the intent has been there from day one (consider the failed first and second central banks of America). I think we are currently in the Demoralization stage and on the brink of the Crisis stage. We'll see what happens next. I think the issue will be forced to crisis or resolved ("normalized" without a crisis) by 2013.

Too soon, too soon. Some books will be cooked, some men paid off, and the crisis will be averted and kicked down the road until some bigger crisis happens in maybe 20 or 30 years. Maybe even more. Who knows.

CBS Evening News: Ron Paul #1 In Iowa Poll...May Not Be The Frontrunner

They really should be trying to find something new.  The caucus is less than a week away and Paul's at more than 50% on Intrade.

You'd think someone would have realized by now that a fairly large number of people don't have landline phones...especially young people, whom the news reports are all too happy to point out make up a lot of Paul's most enthusiastic base.  435 people who will respond to a political survey from a landline phone do not an accurate caucus prediction make.

The crowd knows much better...caucuses are for dedicated, involved people, which even Paul's worst enemies won't deny make up his supporter base.  Mark my words, Paul will win Iowa and take at least second in New Hampshire.

More on Intrade:

JJ, the same young people-cell phone argument was made last time but the polls were actually pretty close to the turnout.

Brilliant quote from user "_red" from Reddit:

If there existed a company whose business model resulted in killing millions of people and was now 15 trillion dollars in debt, very few people would have trouble pointing out that it was a completely failed idea.

However, due to the power of indoctrination, they can't use the same level of rationality when talking about the state.

Thank you TheFinest, I really appreciate it. I'm new to this forum, but I'm assuming given everyone's viewpoint of economics, I am amongst Ron Paul supporters. I just wanted to say lets do what we can to support our convictions and share our ideas.

Lotta good stuff here.  They say Ron Paul's the "frontrunner" (finally) and they do it more than once.  Then they call out Newt Gin-grinch for being aggressive and extreme in his attacks on Paul, and basically chalk it up to the fact that the lizard is fading and needs some attention.

Atheist statist to a christian: "LOL, you seriously buy this tosh! You've been reading too many LaHaye books and watching too much Kirk Cameron. Continue believing in a perfect being that believes in killing for no reason, and that endorses slavery -- I, for one, have slightly higher standards."

Anarchist to atheist statist: LOL, you seriously buy this tosh! You've been watching too many CNN and FoxNews and reading too little in your teens. Continue believing in a perfect utopia called Liberal Democracy that tortured, caged and killed millions for no reason. -- I, for one, have slightly higher standards.

There's more to it than that video shows. The guy's name is Yuri Bezmenov, and he was interviewed by G. Edward Griffin (who wrote The Creature from Jekyll Island). I've watched the whole thing - 30 minutes or more, IIRC. It gave me chills.

just in case you hadn't heard...

Here's a news story.  And then get this...

After this guy defected over to the Paul campaign, Bachmann immediately accused him of being on the take.  He and the Paul campaign deny he received any financial compensation, and the Iowa political director for the Bachmann Presidential campaign, Wes Enos, came to his defense as well.  Enos issued a statement saying Sorenson's decision was, "in no way financially motivated" and that he "cannot, in good conscious watch a good man like Kent Sorenson be attacked as a ‘sell-out’".  Soon after this statement was released, Bachmann fired him.

Hadn't heard the entirety of the second part. Nice.

And about the corporate crossovers - I like the info gained, but I'm afraid it could be used to justify "we just need the right, non-market regulators!"

I wanted to make sure everyone had seen this.  I've been waiting for this since I saw the first one last year.  I really enjoy films like this.  They've done an excellent job.  Interestingly though, this current one has only been out a couple of weeks and already has twice the views as last year's...
