Fellow Austrians,

Hello. My name is Josh VanBuskirk. I'm currently finishing up my Masters and am looking to teach at the community college level as soon as I have completed my program. I'm looking to learn from the experiences of others who are teaching or have taught at the community college level.

What are type of experiences are community colleges looking for in new instructors?

How hard is to get a job teaching something slightly outside of the scope of your last degree?

How important is it to be published in a academic journals to get a job at the community college level?

Please advise.

Thank you.

- Josh

I realize you're looking for an array of feedback and possibly some informal back and forth, but you might actually reach out to some known professors.  Walter Block would be at the top of my list.

Also,

Pete Boettke, Pete Leeson
