This guy was often described as a libertarian, I have sometimes heard him called a fascist. I was wondering how you guys would characterize the political system in Starship Troopers.

So this is totally not a response to Starship Troopers, but have you read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress?

Yes, I have, I thought it was one of Heinlein's best novels. Do you read a lot of Heinlein? The supercomputer (forgot its name) makes an appearance in some of his other books.

I've only read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and Methuselah's Children.  I've got another couple of his books, but I just never got around to reading them.

Stranger in a Strange Land addresses religious themes, his take is quite unconventional, imo.

Something vaguely akin to the Spartin system?

Aka Heinleinian Spartocracy, rule by a warrior class in the style of Heinlein. That does seem accurate.
