So was this a green rally or an anti-capitalism rally?
It was a downer seeing all the enthusiasm and press attention.
Why can't libertarians do one of those? Waaa.
Why would statists and their cronies want to fund a massive anti-state event? It's so easy for statists to hold such events because they don't care about spending more and more of other people's money, and since the whole purpose of these events are to strengthen state power, states and special interests are glad to support them.
All I see are photographers?
Ok, im not quite in this Rio+20 stuff, but I think the protests are related to three things. First, and I think it's one of the biggest reasons of the protests, is about the "agrarian reform", many protestants are part of or are supporters of the MST, and they do it all the time, i dont think that the Rio+20 have a direct relationship with these protests, it was just another way for them to appear more in the media. Second, some ecologists (ecoborings as we speak here) are trying to push our president to also push the heads of state to sign this agreement that they are discussing, but actually appears (and they claim) that she is trying to dodge the issue.
Three, and i think is not that important, there were some protests against Ahmadinejad, you know, that story of human rights.

I dont know much about the picture, but a local news site says: "Activists from various organizations voted to continue protesting and blocking a hallway inside the convention center where is the Rio +20"
But there are a lot of "funny" photos.

You know what's really, really funny? The local Champagne Socialiste press was all wet about Rio, running the usual pieces about it. They must have a mischevious goblin on staff however since these pieces were invariably printed near advertisement for large luxury cars. Think about it: cut CO2 here, cut CO2 there and then they run ads for gas guzzlers.
On a more sober note it must be remembered the Brazilian government is making a bundle (together with their agri-business partners) by catering to the Westerners' gullibility. If you played Tropico think something akin to the "Native" Enclave.
