I just moved into NC State Saturday, and have been trolling around the library to see all what was inside. There are a shit ton of books here, I stumbled upon a few books that have a record of every public statement and every letter publicly written by Hoover and I think FDR. There are probably more I just have yet to find them. Looking through them I thought that there might be a few things that could be useful should the notion that Hoover was ever Laissez-faire come up, it would be nice to have some good first hand evidence. I havent looked too hard yet but I am hoping that I can find some good blurbs straight from the horse's mouth.
If anyone is interested in getting some good first hand evidence let me know; I can try to read through it and compile it. I need something to do and I felt that I could give back to the Mises/Liberty minded movement.
PS If something like this has already been done and is easily available let me know, I'd rather not do this to have it already be done.
Sounds like a great idea! Not sure about any such project (though, of course, I can only know so much).
I'd gladly feature this collection on the upcoming Liberty HQ under the History section (which is atm empty but will soon grow quickly: http://candlemind.com/projects/progclub/file/michael/educate.php )
Take a look at Chapter 7 and 8 of Rothbard's America's Great Depression. Seems to me he has nailed Hoover.
I would like to see FDR's campaign speeches about how statist and socialist Hoover is, and how he [FDR] would bring back the free market if elected.
I've gotta have those.

I would definitely contact Tom Woods and offer him your quick summary and ask if he knows of something like this.
I haven't read them yet, but I'm guessing guys like Burton W. Folsom Jr., Gary Dean Best, and John T. Flynn include some of these primary sources in their works on FDR. If anyone would know something like this, it would be Tom.
If you guys dont trust the mediafire I can re upload with something else (you'd just have to tell me).
We can probably look up part of the text from the speeches online to find the whole text in HTML form.
Good idea if it isnt already done yet. I downloaded the link but the text was not included. I performed an OCR text recognition of the text so you can copy and paste the text from the PDF it as needed.

Thanks Dave, I thought it might be easier if we had some of this stuff readily available on the forum.
