Or is there something I'm missing?

In some countries perhaps, unfortunately Uncle Sam is one persistent bastard, renouncing US citizenship won't get you out of paying taxes. (You can be taxed for up to 10 years after giving up citizenship in the US.)

You can't own land without paying taxes. It's called a property tax.

I think you mean real estate (i.e. landed property), Wheylous.

You originally used the word "property" instead of "land".

Yes, you may... from the comfort of a jail cell.

Not to mention that renouncing citizenship means they will not-so-politely ask you to leave the country. Even if you own land that land doesn't become sovereign, stateless territory as it should.

Once one withdraws his consent to be governed, his legitimately owned property should be removed from the rulers' jurisdiction permanently. Secession.

Still gotta pay for sales taxes.

... The fact that no one just answered with this disturbs me.

No, you can't because if there is indeed a way to resend citizenship that doesn't involve crime, then you can no longer live in the country without some sort of visa, in which case you'll have to pay taxes.
