It's a bit long, so I'll refrain from quoting it, but one of Adam Knott's significant contributions to "The Ancient Chimera of Universal, Absolute, and Objective Value."

From Esuric, a tail-end excerpt from a brilliant post here.

Marxian agitation/propaganda turns people against each other and unleashes mans most evil faculties--jealousy being one of them. Some people are so jealous that they would willingly compromise their own economic welfare in order to destroy the wealth of others. They call this "social justice."

We should totally make it a habit to post links to awesome posts/threads in the MVP of the month thread. I saw the link to Esuric's post, and I was very glad I clicked on it.

Hey, can someone please tell me what happened to liberty student? It says his account is closed. WTF?

Definitely. Posters on Mises can come up with some real doozies. I usually end up emailing them to sympathetic friends and family; they're good enough to be shared Geeked

Speaking of which, this quote from DD5 in a recent thread sounds like it came from Mises himself Stick out tongue

People will die under any government system as well.  The government will not be able to afford all types of healthcare at instant demand.  There will be rationing either directly or indirectly and all medical expenditures will be confined to a finite amount of resources.  This means that contrary to propaganda,  the government cannot guarantee anything.  The question remains: what system can best alleviate the problem of scarcity?

My dear friend Liberty Student has decided to move on, much to our tremendous loss. Posts of his quoted here will therefore perform a second function of honoring his contributions as a way of saying farewell.

I second Adam Knott's post here.

On Liberty Student's departure, I hope he is just thinking things over and does not stay away long. His presence will be missed.

Yes.

I mean why would he leave? For what reason would he abandon these forums altogether iinstead of just going to another forum more often or doing whatever he is now. Why close his account in order to do this?

Srry I'm really uspet over this, LS was awesome.

Wait, what? What happened? Why did he close his account? Most people who "move on" slowly decrease the frequency of their posts, not just unexpectedly disappear.

If I wrote it more than a few weeks ago, I probably hate it by now.

Indeed, it seems rather peculiar that LS would just disappear like that. Even though I lurk more than post, I can say that his contributions were some the most influential in directing towards the ancap philosophy. I don't think I'm alone in this regard, he will be missed.

Regarding the fact that Liberty Student's departure was not a "tapering off" affair, let me just say that LS is not a capricious fellow.  He makes conscious, rational decisions, and then he follows through with them.  He made this decision a while ago, and now he is following through with it (although I would note that I and others pleaded for him not to).  But, you should all know, that before he left, he expressed optimism about the future of this Forum.  LS's departure is a huge, painful loss to the Mises Community (especially for me, as I consider him one of my best friends), but he didn't want his leaving to be a big deal.  So let's respect his wishes, and instead of getting too upset about it, let's follow the example of this month's MVPs (including LS himself) and continue the recent improvement in the level of discourse on this Forum in order to make it a true oasis of reason, civility, and learning, and a place Liberty Student would, someday in the future, want to come back to.

As I mentioned a month ago, the MVP badges are going to be a rotating honor.  To keep things fresh, members won't get MVP two months in a row.  So I hope the January MVPs won't be too surprised when they find their badge gone tomorrow.  Please know that it is absolutely NO reflection on your quality of posting; again, it's just about keeping things fresh and dynamic.

No, no, no! You're doing it wrong! It would have made sense if you said "capitalistic redistribution of wealth." Anyway, to everyone: stay on topic.

Will miss Liberty Student's contributions here. Still one of my favorite posts from the LvMI Forum came from LS:

"When you see that the state creates nothing, and can only re-allocate, then you realize that it is strictly an argument between command economy vs. market economy.  And then the question is, who knows better than you how you should spend your money?  What you value, and what you do not?

Legally, the state is a fiction.  There is no such thing as a state, only a gang of thieves.  With sovereign immunity, they are not compelled to deliver on any portion of their half of the social contract, most of us did not and would not sign anyways.

Welcome to anarchism."

A belated thank you for the welcome!

I certainly hope that LS does come back; he had some very insightful posts, and I am curious as to what drove him to leave. In my own case, mental illness flares up and causes me post less and less (or not at all) for a while, though the biggest change comes in the chat room, where I have been involved much more frequently than on the forums. There is one bright side: now that LS is gone, there is a niche that is left unfulfilled for us to battle over. May we be up to the challenge.
