The basic gist of the author is that in a contract there are two parties and secession must be dually approved. Unilateral secession is not fair to the other side.

If sovereign states willfully chose to join the EU, then they can willfully leave.

I do not remember the King approving the secession of the American colonies. Did he?

Secession is derived from the right of free association. You don't need another party's consent to walk away.

Autarchy: rule of the self by the self; the act of self ruling.

You do in europe. I've been in my neighbor's cellar for 5 hours now because she went to get me some lemonade and then fell and hit her head. Writing this from my macbook. Can't leave until she signs this "by-your-leave" agreement, please send help. I think she's really hurt.

Yet anarchists do not make use of that right.
