I didn't think this kind of nonsense would take place in South Korea- I suppose the US and other nations may not be too far off in jailing those who disagree with government policy.

I think the Economist picked up the blogger's story a few weeks back. Apparently he was warning citizens about which banks or companies were having financial problems.
Guess the establishment didn't like it when people started protecting their investments and savings.
What utter nonsense, but I am not surprised at all being that I am a Korean and am familiar with the history of the statist actions of the Korean government. The track record of the abuses the South Korean government has committed against its own people is pitiful.
On a side note, is anyone familiar with any Austrians or Austrian/Austrian-leaning institutions in Korea? I believe there are Austrians in Japan but I have yet to discover any Austrian sentiments in Korea.
It's already illegal here to tell the truth about the banking sector, although so far as I know it hasn't been enforced in many decades.
