    From 1917-1920, the supply of money increased 25 times. This led to hyperinflation and so one of the most significant reforms of the NEP was the advent of the gold ruble.     In many ways, however, the soviet union was financed and otherwise supported by various american businesses and intellectuals. the progressive state in america, during the first world war, was in many ways a direct inspiration for the various socialist revolutionary movements.
