  • How can anarchists condemn "democracy"?

I've been having trouble following the logic of AnCaps who condemn democracy yet advocate the complete abolishment of government. If you abolish the government, does it not become pure democracy? Who will decide the rules of society if not the majority of the people in that society?

  • Re: How can anarcho-capitalism begin, and how can it protect itself against superior force?

We have seen a Rothbardian social order before and its called non-state feudalism. It was the most libertarian social order mankind has ever had. State formation is due to the monopolistic tendencies of natural elites. The social contract between different defense agencies, over time, lose their voluntary...

  • To Anarcho-Capitalists: In a society like the one you advocate, what should be the age of consent and how should that be determined?

The question is bascially just that simple. This was prompted by my viewing another post on child pornography in a libertarian society, and whether the making and sale of it should be permited. One poster basically said that parents own their children until those children reach the age of consent (thus...

  • Anarcho-Capitalism

So I'm doing a research paper on anarcho-capitalism and have compiled a list of resources. I'm just looking for some feedback on the texts I have chosen. For example, am I missing any crucial literature? Have a listed any texts that wouldn't be all that helpful or aren't relevant (that...

  • What will happen with anarchy?

Hi everybody, I made a previous thread on pretty much the smae subject, but I only got 1 reply, so I think it may not have been very clear. Suppose a part or several parts of the world become anarchic for a period of time and assume that foreign or neihgbouring states by some miracle do not interfere...

  • Should anarcho-capitalists investigate Islamic law?

According to Wikipedia : A significant difference between the classical and modern systems of Islamic law is that classical Islamic law was "independent of any state mechanism", while modern Islamic law is "controlled by the state because the state often controls the legal scholars. "...

  • Political Definitions

I would be interested in seeing a post, blog, website, etc that is devoted to defining political terms. I was at a Tea Party where I saw signs calling Obama a communist, a socialist, and a fascist. Which sign was correct? All three? What about Bush, what would we classify him as? I believe there are...

  • Voluntary Slave contract?

I was at youTube today ( and got into a debate with someone who brought up the issue of Walter Block's support of voluntary slavery. He brought up the issue that in an anarcho-capitalist society, that there would be a risk of people signing their lives away...

  • Ignorance and consent on the philosopher's island

Let us suppose that a great philosopher, having contemplated the vicissitudes of life, were to deem it best to sequester his children, from birth to death, on a private island—and never mention the vale of tears beyond the shore. Would this action be morally legitimate?

  • Anarcho-capitalism defeated?

Imagine that you are on a mountaineering expedition. One of your fellow climbers is involved in an accident that requires immediate medical attention. However, you are almost all the way up the mountain and there is no way that you can get back down in time to get this person to the hospital. Furthermore...
