  • Ignorance and consent on the philosopher's island

    Let us suppose that a great philosopher, having contemplated the vicissitudes of life, were to deem it best to sequester his children, from birth to death, on a private island—and never mention the vale of tears beyond the shore. Would this action be morally legitimate?

  • You can leave = you consent?

    Does the fact that you can leave a country and go somewhere that government will not bother you (e.g. deserted island), or effectively remove yourself from the grid in a country (e.g. move to a mountain shack and hunt), mean that by staying in society you consent to it's social structure?
