• Doesn't Capitalism Do More Harm Than Good?

I am very confused about where libertarians stand on a lot of issues, mostly thanks to the mainstream media. Can anyone answer my questions? -Isn't a nationalized currency like the dollar necessary to maintain order? Wouldn't competing currencies in the same markets really cause a lot of chaos...

  • Capitalism = Destruction?

I have a BBA in Finance and studied economics under some pretty amazing professors. I was always an ardent supporter of capitalism, but over the years I have come to question its long-term sustainability, I believe that the flaw of capitalism is its foundation - profit. While this powerful incentive...

  • Minimum Wage

The most fit organization will be one that doesn't exclusively use the money of governments. I think minimum wage laws should be replaced with "minimum standard of living laws". This allows corporations to move toward self-sufficient organization where government money-wages are not necessary...

  • Re: Capitalism = Feudalism!
Problem with the word "capitalism", is that people associate it with any type of society, i.e. from laissez-faire-/anarcho- etc to crony-/state capitalism etc.
That would make it (emotionally) loaded terminology. And this maybe just the problem with...

  • Mexico buys corn futures to ensure tortilla prices remain flat

http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2010/1224/Mexico-buys-corn-futures-to-ensure-tortilla-prices-remain-flat Will this work? Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought that such speculation could at best only temporarily influence prices... That such speculation generally worked to make prices more quickly...

  • How does Medicare make medical treatment more costly?

I've read that so-called price fixing of Medicare reimbursements is partly responsible for the rise in prices for medical treatments. I would like more details on the mechanics of this claim. Thanks in advance.

  • All Mises U content now available through Bit Torrent

I thought this would be a good way of spreading our message freely, further, and faster. I arranged all information within the torrent exactly as it was downloaded from the beautifully-arranged Mises U that you have implemented on iTunes. I thought this additional format of delivery would be handy for...

  • Re: Small Businesses - Dying off because lack of anti-trust?
I know that small businesses are considered the heroes and underdog champions of free market capitalist society, but at some point, someone was foolish enough to confuse what is good for competitors for what is good for competition, and an equal and "fair"...

  • Re: Glass Steagall Act

Thank you so much I'm finally starting to understand. But can you elaborate on the ways the money would be frittered away had the Glass Steagall not been repealed? This is so interesting to me!

  • Re: Glass Steagall Act

Please elaborate on the article. I do not understand how exactly it answers the questions posted above. I also do not understand the phrase 'monetizing government debt to use as an asset to pyramid more credit'.
