  • Arguing with interventionists/socialists about health care

They dismiss the idea that free market health care is better than socialized health care because health care in Canada, UK, France and Scandinavian countries are serviceable. It's irrelevant that free market health care is better as long as health care in those countries proves that socialized care...

  • Re: Central Planning and efficiency

Wow. I never expected an exciting debate to happen. Thank you all for your intelligent answers. Now to be more specific about what socialists mean by needs. These are for example health care and education. South East Asian countries with fanatic leftist politicians and intellectuals want to socialize...

  • Central Planning and efficiency

The intuitive idea that appeals to socialists is that Capitalism wastes resources because it creates useless products for the comfort and satisfaction of petty wants for those who have money while there are people in the streets who do not even get their basic needs satisfied. So therefore, the government...

  • Re: Limits to the argument that socialism doesn't work...

  • Limits to the argument that socialism doesn't work...

What if a socialist government just controls the most basic parts of the economy like agriculture, mining, fishing, textiles, and construction. All the manpower and attention would be focused on just these industries and all other capital goods in other industires created by the previous capitalist economy...

  • Re: What exactly are the goals of socialists?

1] First and foremost, to never let their victims have a clear idea of what their goals are. 2] To advance their theocracy, and elevate their religion to a position of dominance, based on the religious belief that "S"ociety is God, and the State is its proper church. Their religion is properly...

  • Re: How do the World Bank and IMF do more harm than good?

Very interesting! Now I'm curious about the other reasons of why socialism works in Europe?

  • Communism at my school

So this Raymond Lotta guy, of the Revolutionary Communist Party of America, is coming to my school this week to give a speech ( http://thisiscommunism.org/ ). I need some help preparing some questions/comments that will prevent anyone from buying into his nonsense. I am somewhat familiar with cost accounting...

  • How did you become a libertarian?

Hey all, This question was recently raised on the Mises Institute's Facebook page and I found the responses incredibly inspiring. Most surprising to me was that most people there came from a traditionally socialist philosophy. This is encouraging. I'd love to hear how members of this forum came...
