  • Freest Countries

I live in the US, but have sometimes dreamed about living in another country (at least for a few years). Like most of the members of this community, I am a hardcore libertarian. So, living somewhere that embodies a similar personal, political, and economic world view is important to me. Which countries are the freest in the world? Which countries would

  • Re: Short, Free Defenses of Capitalism

I can think of some short books, but that wouldn't answer your question. Ha-ha. I've never seen a single short article which adequately defends capitalism. If you described your target audience (e.g. social democrats, neocons, paleo conservatives, socialists) maybe someone could find you a good article for that specific audience. Feel free to

In your guys opinion, what are some of the best free, short articles, which explain and defend why capitalism is the best economic system?

  • Re: Austrian Critiques of Mathematics and Econometrics

Simon Kuznetz sounded some cautionary notes about the mathematical approach even though he was neck deep in its development. It might interest you to read some of his stuff even though he's not Austrian. Any specific recommendations?

  • Re: Still debating studying econ at university

After a year of private study, I'm really feeling drawn to a career in economics. I realize I'm the only one who can really answer this question for myself, but I'm looking for input from others who have maybe faced my dilemma. If I wanted to work as a corporate economist, research, policy advisor, etc., etc., should I just suck it up and

  • Austrian Critiques of Mathematics and Econometrics

I'm really interested in reading more critiques of mathematical economics and econometrics, so I'm hoping you guys can recommend some stuff. I'm particularly interested in free materials, since I'm unemployed and can't afford to buy books right now. Thanks in advance.

  • Re: Totally Random Question: Will Austrian Economics Help Me In Business?

Is it better to know less in order to know if it is better to know more or less, or is it better to know more about whether it is better to know more or less? Oh man, it's getting confusing. If we tack a few more loops on it, it'll be really confusing. You're right though, it is better to know more on the subject of how knowing more isn't

You didn't answer my question. What does it imply? Sorry, I thought it was obvious; I'm saying it doesn't imply anything. You tried to say it implied something, but I don't think it does. Sometimes it's better to know more, other times it's better to know less; it depends on the situation. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

  • Re: Totally Random Question: Will Austrian Economics Help Me In Business?

What does it imply? Knowing more isn't always beneficial doesn't imply that knowing less is always beneficial, right? So, when I said "knowing more isn't always better than knowing less" the only thing it implies is that "knowing more isn't always better than knowing less" as opposed to your response, which indicated

If this is so then you need no other justification. I know, that's why I put in the OP that I wasn't really looking for justification -- rather, I'm just curious.
