  • Re: "People read too much Hayek back then"

I swear to Freud, "neo-liberal" is the hipster leftist equivalent of "neo-confederate". Also, they might actually have a point regarding folks reading too much Hayek; look at the amount of times he's presented as second only to Friedman as a free market advocate, when the media's forced to give any remotely non-statist view

  • Re: What do you think of Political moderation?

My honest question is, who defines the center? If we took the political spectrum as an aggregate total of human history, starting with Paleolithic hunter-gatherer family units and moving on down to modern democracies, the mainstream West is extremely far to the left and authoritarian ends on the political compass. Even restricting this sample to the

  • Re: Atheist Plus forum hates Libertarianism

I'd argue equality is a religion unto itself, complete with a state priesthood (diversity directors), theologians (civil rights lawyers), holy texts (UN Declarations), penance and reconcilatory rituals (diversity seminars) and blasphemy laws and inquisitions (Google "Canadian Human Rights Commission").

  • Re: Wikipedia only Good For Truths, the State Won't Object To?

Pretty much. Wikipedia is not special in this regard, however; it is merely a less professional echo of the existing Progressive consensus in Western academia, with it's own younger userbase reflected by the sheer volume of pop cultural trivia articles relative to, say, ones on Paleolithic China or the economic history of Mali. The general intellectual

  • Re: Libertarianism perspective on the Freedom of Speech

You might also want to google Ake Green, Andrew Bolt, Canadian Human Rights Commission, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, Ezra Levant, Geert Wilders, Richard Warman or, for that matter, French Armenian genocide. Gottfried , in particular , is excellent on this subject .

  • Re: Should the railroad rates be raised during the Chinese New Year?

2.2 is the Rothbardian position? That's curious; "Further: We must reject once and for all the left-libertarian view that all government-operated resources must be cesspools. We must try, short of ultimate privatization, to operate government facilities in a manner most conducive to a business, or to neighborhood control. But that means: that

  • Re: Libertarianism Is Not Based on Christianity

Wait a minute... wait a minute... WAIT A MINUTE. Survivalism, primitivism, decentralism and Islam... holy Shiite guys, I think F4M might be one of the Taliban.

  • I Just Don't Get It (Occupiers and Libertarians)

In a similar spirit to RJM's "I Don't Want Any Kind of Alliance With Progressives", I'd like to present this collage of random thoughts of mine on the Occupy movement and it's relation to libertarianism; This has been going through my mind for a while, but now that the protests seem to have died down somewhat and I have the

  • Re: What do you like and/or dislike about Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum?

What's so bad about Italy or Bulgaria? Do they also have 70% or less in PPP, irradiating airport scanners and demand their overseas citizenry pay income tax?

  • Re: Betting time!

I predict ( no pun intended ) Gingrich will win Iowa and Bachmann Virginia. Ultimately, the nomination will go to Rick Perry, and Romney will withdraw after a beatdown on Super Tuesday, the rest of the primaries after that being more of a formality than an actual contest. Perry will choose Gingrich or Bachmann as his running mate, and will go on to
