  • Re: High Prices of Drugs

Neither does your car salesman have an incentive to sell you a car that works for a long time, he has an incentive to keep you buying cars. Actually it's the case in most industries. Your bus driver doesn't have an incentive to get you closer to where you want, your gardener wants your plants to require watering more often, and what about the

  • Re: CRTC's internet billing decision appealed

This is about the most clear-cut example of fake competition there is. A monopoly board (the CRTC) is forcing terms on telcos to sell bandwidth below market rates, and now adjusting those terms in the face of a changing market condition, and everyone complains that it is the telcos that are the monopolists!

  • Re: Question about beliefs!!!

Usually utility prices from socialized utilities are highly subsidized, so in the case of Quebec Hydro it is almost certain that in a free market prices would be higher. This of course does not take into account the capital value of the Hydro, which would increase significantly if the company could sell electricity for its true value. This capital value

  • Re: High Prices of Drugs

The problem is that your doctor doesn't have an incentive to make you better, he has an incentive to keep you on medicine.

  • Re: nazism and barbarism

Naziism can only be understood as a cultural movement with a political arm. The Nazis were innovators in art and cinema, and they revered modernized folk art like Wagner's Ring. They also innovated the use of logos (an innovation so powerful their main logo is still banned in Germany). Inspiring themselves from ancient barbarian practices was one

  • Re: High Prices of Drugs

One of my smartest friends once told me that the economic basis for modern medicine is corrupt - you pay your doctor when you are sick instead of paying him when you are healthy. There has been no innovation in the market of health for over a century since it became regulated by government.

  • Re: Civil disobedience

Civil disobedience is freedom except with the fear of being arrested. The state's agents can then persecute people at their own tyrannical whim, since the law gives them this power. For freedom to exist, power must be taken away. The state's agents must fear persecuting people because they face consequences for such an action.

  • Re: U.S. Supreme Court Issues Landmark Decision: Constitution is Void

The constitution was an agreement between the federal government and the colonial governments to create the USA under specific terms. On the colonial governments withdrew from the USA in the secessionary war and the federal government conquered them, the constitution became null and void - the federal government ruled by pure force.

  • Re: Government Inevitability

In the end, they are naturally selected out of existence, because they engender less survivable humans and human societies than superior moral systems do. You are thinking of the paradox of imperialism . For this to continue, there has to be the regular birth of new societies contesting the old ones. This birth process has not functioned in our generation
