  • Re: Is BitCoin the currency of the future?

@gabriel: Oh, man, you're begging for a flame-war.... ;-) Of course, C++ and Perl are not even in the same solution-space... but I absolutely love Perl. Unfortunately, Perl has lost its roots with Perl6, which I think is going to be a fork, I don't think Perl5.x is ever going to be truly end-of-life'd, the code base is a large part of what

P.S. I do know C++ but I wrote my prototype in Perl... C++ == yuck; ;-) The proposition that C++ is yuck may be true. However, C++ as compared to Perl, C++ is superior. We need to rehabilitate C++ vis-a-vis Perl. What we need is a, Perl: The God that Failed book.

  • Re: Road to Serfdom and Tom Woods on Glenn Beck today

I still think he cries too much about the Constitution. Of course, us anarchists might think that. • Re: Capitals of Countries

If government is anti-prosperity, then why do the places of high government offices, the capital cities, rich? Government is certainly pro-prosperity. Prosperity for the members of the government and their clients, that is. The prosperity of its subjects are of little interest. Washington, D.C. is not a great place, by the way. And the leftists always

  • Re: LOTR, against Libertarianism

Perhaps it's more archetpye than allegory. It could certainly be the case that you read in this particular archetypal structure, but I'm still not sure that any particular reading was intended by Tolkien. In the forward Tolkien also says, "“I much prefer history, true or feigned, with its varied applicability to the thought and experience

  • Re: LOTR, against Libertarianism

I think you're missing the point of LOTR. Have you read the books? The story is, Sauron created various "Rings of Power," which he gave to various leaders of various races throughout the world. The leaders which used this power became corrupted by it - the 9 Ring Wraiths are human Kings who were given rings and corrupted by their power
