  • Re: Money, medium of exchange vs store of value?

that is why instead of using the term intrinsic value i suppose you could have said that fiat currency is fiat exactly because before individuals using it as money representative it did not have any serviceability.

  • Re: A question about welfare

responsibility has got to do with ethics. and it means that if person A does X which results in Y, the person owns the created by X effect which caused Y. which would simply mean that if I steal your money I am the one who did act in a manner that resulted in you being without money. I am responsible for what happened and not a random guy walking on

  • Re: A question about welfare

responsiblity is a subjective phenomenon? can you please tell me who is responsible for your post then? or is it actually yours? did you come up with its content and did you write it or your dog did it? if I steal your money and no one coerced me in doing so and I say that am not responsible for what happened, you are supposed to let me go, because

  • Re: The dollar is no worse then other currencies?

as liberty student wrote you there is no such thing as intrinsic value or objective value. and if you ask me about the subjective value of the dollar i can not tell you because i can not express it cardinally, since it simply means the relation between the marginal utility of a certain quantity of dollars and the marginal utility of the certain quantity

  • Re: Lew Rockwell Lied

if the procedure which goal is to damage someone psychologically and physically is not the same as what is being currently done to this guy as written in the article cited by Lew Rockwell(or if we assume that what the guy is enduring because of this 5-minute check-up is not actually causing him any additional psychological and physical pain) then what

  • Re: Robinson Crusoe had property T/F (Property is a social institution? No)

the fact that a cat prefered to eat fish to bread shows us that preferable behavior exists in cat's world. but this does not show us that universally preferable behavior exist, one that needs reason in order to be elaborated. today I prefered to eat an apple and I discarded eating an orange, but if I steal your money what kind of ethics am I proposing

  • Re: The best argument against a welfare state

I know that you can tell him that you respect him and his opinion and desire to help the poor, and ask from him whether he respects your lack of desire to do the same, which would mean that you let him do what he wants to do with his income as long as he does not violate someones rights, and you expect from him not to coerce you into giving away some

well I read some of it and from first glance I can say that this guy really is confused. I got this impression from his misunderstanding of Kant's Categorial Imperative. This imperative is not a rule, it is a principle that serves as a criterion for a valid moral norm. This principle is known as the universalization principle. Itself does not tell

  • Re: The best argument against a welfare state

it depends on why he thinks a certain welfare program should be implemented - whether because it is more efficient than the free-market or moraly superior to the free market. if it is the first you must have knowledge in economics. if it is the second you must have knowledge in ethics.

"If the cat who has been infringed upon notices this they defend their food." well you have said it by yourself. that is the fundamental role of ethics. to suggest a preferable behavior that if adopted avoids all conflicts. which would mean that there would not be such situations between your two cats fighting the moment when one of them is
