You have to agree to the standard, otherwise there is no way to know what happens in the interaction. If pointing a piece of gun at someone is considered generally a threat, and for you it means something else, like a show of sympathy, you still can't point the gun at someone. You must concur to the standard or face the consequences of ignoring

  • Re: Better service for the rich under anarchy?

Why international arbitration doesn't prefer big countries over small? For example both France and Andora have the same rights. The first reason is that it is too costly for big countries to fight even the smallest countries (which can team up by the way), and because usually people don't want to offend other people if they feel close, and generally

Then you obviously can't attack him because he conveys another kind of message. If it will become common to use white flags in order to trap people, then you'll have the legitimacy to kill even those who hold white flags. People use language, verbal or nor, to interact. If you close a deal and the other person thinks that when you say "Yes"

  • Re: Going into politics

Well, as a politician you live at the expense of the tax payers, which is arguably a violation of NAP. However what bothers me more I guess is that non-radical approach to the abolishenment of the state, that is, trying to minimize its power in small steps didn't work in the past and unlikely to work in the future. During a war, a person wearing a uniform of the enemy army, in fact threatens you with violence. He can either say "I will kill you", show you a gesture that signifies the intent to kill you, or wear a uniform. In all these cases a clear message is given. So you can definitely defend yourself against people who wear uniform, especially since

  • Re: Destroying the view

You can't own a mountain (unless it is artificial). At most you can own the carvings.

  • Destroying the view

Let's say that a person in a free society carves a huge depiction of Hitler on a mountain range (like Rushmoore) or perhaps carves out some other despicable sight such as a giant ass or a porn act. Can people demand that he removes these carvings? After all everyone likes to enjoy the mountain view as previously.

  • Re: The Pullman Strike

Acts of vandalism aside, how can the breaking of agreements justify violent action against them?

  • Re: American-Indian wars

It goes without saying that not all Americans are responsible for the crimes committed by the soldiers. I just thought maybe there was some significant aggression from the indians that I am not aware of. Perhaps not all blame lies only on the aggressors on the American side
