• What is Classical Liberalism? Are you a Classical Liberal?

Check out this YouTube video if you have an opportunity. The speaker, Dr. Ashford, is Senior Program Officer at the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) at George Mason University. If you have an opportunity to watch the video (about 7 minutes), please share your comments and opinions. Suggestions / constructive criticism are appreciated, and if it's

  • Re: What is your process of writting?
I find it very difficult to write even one paragraph from start to finish that would be very good. What I do is revise the text in front of me many times over. My "writting" really consists of 9 parts editing and one part writting. Not even writting, really more like brainstorming. I spew the stuff that I have

  • Re: Peace - Only Achieved By Ridding Government?
Can peace on earth only be achieved by getting rid of government?
Getting rid of government to achieve peace proposes a solution that ignores the problem. Only when all people stop utilizing coercive methods (from the spectrum of force to fraud) to take from others what isn't theirs will we have world peace

  • Re: Are modern economies even possible without the ultra wealthy?
Some made the claim that the rich wouldnt miss the money therefore there is not a problem taking it from them and giving it to the poor.
They need to realize this is just legalized theft, plain and simple. Most people try to resist this claim, but work with them. Ask if taking a dollar from them is as morally

You can always try the Peace Corps (get you a 1-2 year gig in a French-speaking country), Teach for America (in French), or if all else fails, see if the Koreans or Chinese will take you to teach English at one of their schools. I always thought that engineering majors would have the world at their fingertips. There's plenty of work out there -

  • Re: Peter Schiff on Chinese Inflation
Agamentus, the world needs other goods besides airplanes and mainframes.
And the world needs other goods besides tainted pet food and cheap consumer products that break every 6 months. Are you trying to say that the stuff China makes can only be made in China? I understand the law of comparative advantage, but

  • Re: Peter Schiff on Chinese Inflation
Beijing has finally realized the housing bubble is getting out of control and wants to reel it in as quickly as possible.
That's an interesting question. In China, the state still has enormous sway in its domestic banking sector, and due to state influence, it's hard to gauge whether or not the rates

  • Re: Government-Free Marriage
I mean if there were broad support for this new redefined concept of marriage that includes same sex couples there would hardly be such a cultural war.
And what if there wasn't broad support? Do you think there'd be a conflict over an issue that "neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg?"

  • Re: Government-Free Marriage
The only reason it bugs people who only believe in traditional marriage is because the government recognizing gay marriage is like the people themselves recognizing it since they believe the government represents them.
If someone used that point in a discussion with me, I'd stamp a big red "FAIL"
