  • Re: Econometrics paper, topic suggestions?

"How about an econometrics paper on the value of econometrics without the presence of the state?" I'm confused. Would you like to elaborate on that, please?

  • Re: Somalia proof that capitalism doesn't work?

I don't have any understanding of what happened. I just wrote the message and sent it - that's it.

  • Re: Somalia proof that capitalism doesn't work?

This message is about something you might not remember anymore, but luckily writing messages to Mises forum doesn't cost anything. In your [collapse]original message you used the term "pure capitalism". How did you refer to the system of pure capitalism when you talked to this person? Did you talk about anarcho-capitalism or free market

  • Re: Any Europeans on this Forum?

I'm Finnish, and I have to say I don't enjoy it when someone lumps all Europeans together as a group called "Europeans". But I guess that was the most effective way to pose your question. It could've been quite hard to list all European countries and ask whether there were any people from those countries. But now I'm just babbling

For some reason I'm having hard time believing that the original poster is serious... C'mon, do you guys really think that socialists often refer to Somalia as a disproof of pure capitalism? Maybe they would use it as an example of anarchy not working; but do they think Somalia is capitalistic? Hell no! According to my own experience they usually

  • Re: What are you reading?

I don't have anything better to do, so I might just ask this, quite useless question here: How many books do you read in year on average? How many books have you read during this year?

  • Re: Which was better for "economic growth?"

I don't have an answer to what you are asking, but I have a suggestion. I think you should consider the trustworthiness of your sources i.e. try to remember from where did you hear that 1950s had the best economic growth in history and from where did you hear that it was 1880s. Do you remember your sources?

  • Re: Frustration at the wide-open choices of available reading

I know your pain - so much to read, so little time. I wish I could be immortal (or stop time) for a hundred years or so. At least then I could read most of what needs to be read. It seems like this journey called reading takes forever.

  • Re: An-Cap Resource

Assuming you were asking for a book recommendation or something like that, my vote would also go to For a New Liberty by Murray N. Rothbard. Does anyone know if Volutary City (edited by David T. Beito) is worth of reading?
