Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candlestick in the Dark Yes, I know he was a statist, but this book is not about politics. Instead it is about employing the scientific method as a tool for debunking various pseudo-sciences -- a good intro to logic. At any rate, it represents a watershed event on my long road towards anarco-capitalism

Human desires are unlimited but resources are scarce, therefore decisions must be made, i.e., we must economize. No law or social order will never change that truism.
Yeah, we only have this one reality to go by. And if we look back, people always form governments... over and over again.....
Did all these incidences of formation of government occur in a vacuum relative to each other? If so, then perhaps you are right.
Does anyone know of a water distillation system that you can hook up to supply your entire house?
I'm no plumber, but distillation is a highly energy-inefficient (expensive) process for cleaning up water. You are probably better off with a whole house filtration system. Why not call a plumber? Just to ask
Isn't a peeping tom violating the right to privacy ?
Possibly, but I would argue that claiming a right to privacy is too vague. Where does the right to privacy come from? I think it was Murray Rothbard that said all rights are really just property rights. You cannot have the right to keep something private
When people say they are "saving time" they are merely employing a euphemism for saving labor or making labor more efficient. There is no way for a person to vary the amount of time they consume (Einstein notwithstanding).
Excellent point. Thanks.
i dare you to not consume the next second.
It pains me. Touche!

You can't save time because you can't hold it in your hands? Time is a scarce resource and like any resource can be consumed or not consumed. In the case of time, the consuming takes place in deciding how to consume, not if it should be consumed. What will I spend my time on? It is a special case resource unlike all other resources. I hope you
