  • Re: The social contract.

I think that was a very good decomposition jon thanks. It probably also brings into question the legitimacy of control over a territory and natural land monopoly. How much land can the usa really claim to control. I really don't think drawing lines in the dirt makes you a controller/owner and certainly not legitimate.

  • The social contract.

So I'm wondering what the best argument you guys feel, against the social contract theory, is? I suppose its just that entering into a contract without having to sign anything sorta negates it. Or perhaps that the united states can never enforce a territorial contract on us because it slaughtered the original owners of this land and therefore are

  • Re: Private transportation infrastructure and rules

    1. all roads in the country are currently owned. If you switched from socialized roads to private roads, the initial step is creating corporations to own local roads, perhaps per county, and everyone that has been paying property tax in that area owns shares in that company proportional to tax paid.

  • Re: Privatize Fire-fighting?

Well first off the main consumers of private fire fighting firms would be insurance companies, due to the cost. Ok so would they let the poor guys house burn? Well I think an option is to allow him to pay the fire fighters that are there watching the surrounding houses to put it out, with a premium of course. No, government fire fighting is not a good

  • Re: The killing of outlaws

What I was driving at was, would a security firm presume to put its sphere of influence over a person who is completely opted out of the security market. If they would presume, what do you think the ethical implications of that action are? Is it a slippery slope situation that could lead to dominion over the unaffiliated? Personally I would not subscribe

  • Re: The killing of outlaws

Well the case is simpler if the murderer belongs to a security organization. But what about the case where someone who is already an exile/outlaw kills. In other words, would you subscribe to a security service that assigns no value to the life of an outlaw? Where it is basically "open season" on their asses.

  • The killing of outlaws

What do you feel the most justified retroactive justice would be in an anarchist society concerning a murderous outlaw? Death? Imprisonment? Say that there is damning evidence, such as a video tape of the murder, but no cirumstantial evidence (motive).

  • Re: Voting anarchist dilemma

It would be compatible with market anarchism, but it would still be a form of governance right? Just not coercive.

Yes a voluntary government with the right to leave at any time could meet the minarchist definition.
