• Re: Bitcoin DO NOT WANT!?

@Malachi You stretched my metaphor and I'm supremely offended.
Assuming that today everyone were using swiss army knives to butter their bread. (Unlikely, I know!) The butter knife is better for buttering bread, swiss army knives are great for lots of things, but they're not as good for buttering bread. Butter knives will replace swiss

  • Re: Questioning Subjectivism
It is the merit of psychoanalysis that it has demonstrated that even the behavior of neurotics and psychopaths is meaningful, that they too act and aim at ends , although we who consider ourselves normal and sane call the reasoning determining their choice of ends nonsensical and the means they choose for the attainment
From the Wiki on Albert Fish, "None of the jurors doubted that Fish was insane."
That's funny, because from what I remember the juror convicted him of first degree murder, and had him executed. I didn't think they did that to insane people. As the story goes, he jumped up on the electric chair

  • Re: Soviet Union and Centrally planned economies?

I'm going to rock the boat on the Mises forums here and do what no one else is likely going to do because it is such a unique and special opinion on the topic of socialism and a centrally planned economy. No! Socialism bad! DO NOT WANT! Calculation problem. No point in replacing currency with X. Fin.

  • Re: Want to hear a joke?
so your objection is actually support for my argument.
What, how does that even happen? You're like a word ninja. Correct me if I'm wrong but I can't think of any self-destructive societies that have lasted longer than a generation (Maybe the Aztecs?). Our longest held taboo's have all been indoctrinated

  • Re: Thoughts on Molyneux's "Universally Preferable Behavior"

There has been a fun article written that describes a mental condition called "Narcissism" and a characteristic called "splitting", and how it impressively fits with Molyneux's personality. http://www.fdrliberated.com/stefan-molyneux-the-splitting-question/ His idea that there is some objective source for morality always got

  • Re: Questioning Subjectivism

Right, but behaviors like drinking battery acid and sticking needles in oneself are not only done by people that are unable to control themselves, or at least there's no evidence to suggest that they are less in control of themselves than anyone else. I just don't see why it's necessary to remove these types of people from the "action

  • Re: Want to hear a joke?

@hashem Indoctrination yes, force no. Most societies that try to force their customs on themselves tend to self destruct, the destruction is even faster when they try to force their customs on others. Everyone grows up and is taught certain values and everyone is resistant to changing those values. Take cryptocurrency for example, Misesians are extremely

  • Re: Bitcoin DO NOT WANT!?
This isnt significant to anyone but Misesians, as first world peoples have had two generations of fiat money, and are used to thinking of it like poker chips.
I really don't know if that's true or not. I hope so. I was going to argue against it and say, "Omg no the world hates bitcoin 'cause
Infanticide is justified as long as the babies are below two.
2 years old is just as coherant a qualifier for protection as passing through a persons abdomen or vagina, but I wont derail this thread into that little debate. My position on this is here , for anyone interested. It's pretty obvious why woman gained the positions in
