Yeah, that's what I was getting at too Anenome. I personally believe everything in the past was determined by causal factors (that's pretty clear, A leads to B), but I don't think anything in the future is "pre"-determined, which makes no sense to me (ie, future event B is set in stone). Maybe if a deity exists, I dunno.
-
I don't buy into the fact that everything is predetermined due to the fact that multiple time realities exist, according to some theories in physics I also think "future time" doesn't exist in a determined sense, as it hasn't transpired yet. Assuming otherwise is nonsensical. Maybe things are "deterministic" if we look

In that HHH lecture, he says that private spending was 15 times government spending? What is that figure now? I know govt. spending for 2012 is 6 trillion so far, but what is private spending?
-
Except, gotlucky, punishing criminals isn't voluntary. Contradicts your first statement.
-
I believe that such a contract would be offensive to natural law. Involuntary force against criminals (like government) is objectively moral, not requiring a contract. By simply existing as a human, you involuntarily must not use aggression in a true anarcho-capitalist society.
-
@Anenome: That doesn't change the fact that retaliative force is involuntary by any definition. I am a non-aggressionist, not a voluntarist. Also, voluntarists have historically been anti-political. I am a political anarchist.
-
Did he have to include the word voluntar(y)ist at all? True libertarians don't believe all interaction should be "voluntary." Criminals should be punished without voluntary consent to punishment, for example.
-
Watch the comedy show "Parks and Recreation"! A character in that show, Ron Swanson, is a full blown libertarian anarchist, as well as a rugged individualist type. And the rest of the show is hilarious as well, I think.
-
I agree with SM on this one, not sure what's the big deal?
-
I know I have been guilty of that myself at times, as have other right-libertarians. I try to avoid it now. It's best left for the left.
