• Re: Ridiculous Claims Thread

That the current economic situation proves that "free markets" (and therefore libertarianism) have been proven not to work!

  • Re: How do you personally respond when being accused of social darwinism?

Somewhat related, this paper Origins of the Myth of Social Darwinism is a pretty good read. How do they respond to your normal response? How do they justify hurting some people to help some other people? Turn the tables, make them go on the defensive and provide a rational and logical explanation for forced charity. Or, you could punch them in the face

  • Re: Economics about to change by 2030.

FTA: Humans have all the tools needed to ease pressure on resources by taking advantage of technological advances, Leape said. They continually pushed Freddie/Fannie to lower the standards and pump out more mortgages. The Fed obliged with cheap credit. The

  • Re: Oil Market Bailout

So if you are against a bailout for the oil industry you are against teachers, and if you are against teacher you are against children, you don't hate children

just that he was a good economist with an actual ability to analyze economics - as opposed to just going on the same soap box for political economy.
LOL! That's ALL Krugman does. Writes a column in the NYT every week. Same Keynesian crap, over and over.
And

  • Re: Why isn't Austrian economics triumphant?

argumentum ad populum Unfortunately since the vast majority hold the belief that government involvement/regulation of the market is absolutely necessary and good, they feel these views need no explanation and accept them without question. Challenging the status quo is always an uphill battle.
