I guess the advantage to Ron Paul not being seen as a legitimate candidate is that the other candidates cut each other down all the time and don't attack Paul much. They all knock themselves off the top and leave Paul standing as the leader before long.

In terms of externalities, how can the free market stop a company from exploiting its workers overseas, or dumping toxic waste into a river? In Alberta we have a huge problem with the tar sands.
