  • Re: Skipping breakfast?

On a serious note milk-wise, I can't seem to get enough calcium or magnesium or vitamin D even with drinking a couple of glasses of milk a day. If you start skipping it, do a little math and see if you can find out how to make up the difference. D of course you should be getting from sun exposure, but depending on where you live and all that school

  • Re: Lance Armstrong and Legalization of Steroids

Even if there was a direct cause, it's the killing that's wrong, not the steroid use. You can only call the actual aggression the crime.

There are so many grey areas anyway. What about competitors who have undergone sex change? Or are treating diseases? Once upon a time drinking water during competition was defined as doping! It seems impossible to sort out who is competing "clean" and who isn't...I don't honestly see why they have those rules. If you ran the whole

  • Re: Free Will and Libertarianism.

I find on this forum the will is generally equated with conscious choice, but I take issue with that. Classically the will was defined as prior to the intellect, and I think this is borne out by the testing that neuroscientists are doing whereby they establish that we become aware of our actions AFTER they have been initiated. I don't see those

  • Re: Homesteading Misery

It seems to me that the coffee table and the hostage are not analagous. The hostage is not property, whether or no they are being compelled; they are still a human being. The individual actions taken during this incident would have to be separated into segments and analyzed. The initial aggression against the hostage; that's obviously the aggressor's

  • Re: do we need the supernatural for morals?

Not all moral systems rely on a belief in the supernatural, no. According to Plato, Socrates didn't believe an ethic was valid solely because it was espoused by a god, and as I understand it the classical Mediterranean world in general, at least, agreed. If you're asking if there is a universal moral possible, I say no. The best you can ever

Oh. I really thought this was going to be a thread about Avram Davidson.

  • Re: CBS News: ‘Fast and Furious’ Gun Found At Site Where Mexican Beauty Queen Killed

I definitely think this was a deliberately planned process, with oversight and awareness all the way up the chain of command. I think the invocation of executive privilege is very telling. That looks so bad, that whatever the documents actually reveal must have been far more damaging to the Obama administration than the suspicions we now entertain.

I just think that's a funny complaint coming from a libertarian. These are voluntary communities. You don't like the way they're shaping up? Don't complain! Don't join. Start your own. "Cranks and Odd Numbers for Liberty" or something. "Vitriol is the spice of political philosophy" can be your motto. I'd probably

That's not a fair gripe imo. No maneuvering needed when you own the forum.
