  • Re: Libertarian Feminism: Can This Marriage Be Saved? essay

I think anybody whose sole interest is in the RESULT obtained by political action is going to have a hard time absorbing and appreciating libertarianism. My opinion about feminists is they are totally and 100% fine with getting equality in all areas via state action. Even if this invites the government into every corner of their lives. The extra privileges

  • Re: Nap as (single) universal Ethic

Can we return to the OP's question in this thread? My thoughts: 1) It would be impossible to establish the veracity of this, yes? So we must assume 2) And given this, why is it enforceable? Because by engaging in non-coercive commerce (argumentation, contractual agreements) humans demonstrate that such is possible and preferable; while by engaging

  • Re: Sun Burns 600 Million Tons of Hydrogen Every Second?

Our star will not supernova. It is not the right type of star for that. It will become a red giant, then a nebula. Its core will remain the longest, as a white dwarf. The core of the Sun is by now more than half helium, by the way. The heat it releases is energy, not fire, which transfers slowly up through the various layers and is finally released

  • Re: Obese woman dies of kidney failure after being unable to fly to US

It sounds like she did not give the airline advance notice that she had special needs. It definitely was not a round trip fare as far as the article states. Between the lift needed to get her IN, and the seatbelt extension etc. needed once she was in, it sounds like the kind of thing you can't make a last minute reservation for. Even oxygen patients

No problem! If you want some help designing a running program let me know or PM me, I’d be happy to help. RE: something way back on this thread, I Love my Vibram 5 fingers. In warm weather, they are awesome for canoeing, too. I run in mine. I have the original Bikila type. I’m hankering after some of the better looking newer ones though

Quality-paced running as preferable to long, slow distance running. LSD isn't always "junk mileage" but it's good to maximize the benefits of a running program by a proportionate blend of threshold, repetition, interval, and easy paced running. The LSD of a program is sort of active recovery, it's best used for that rather than

  • Re: Primal diet/lifestyle thread

I've been told there's a period of transition for some people, especially if you might have had some trouble regulating blood sugar before. In the meantime, I would imagine energy would be an issue. My advice would be to pick up a really physical hobby. A martial arts class or rock climbing or whatever...personally, I like outdoor stuff best

  • Re: The State and its relationship with religion...

I’m a third-generation Italian American. My grandmother told me some family history long ago. Somewhere along the way, back in the seventeenth century I think, the elder brother inherited the property in the Marche and my ancestor had to go away to Sicily to establish himself. I don’t think the elder brother had either the means or the inclination

The difference for an inheritor of this kind of contract is they have no legal means of changing the terms they were born into. It's not at all like running a business.

I think such systems can create untenable problems down the line for an inheritor. It's all very well to inherit property if you're inheriting the wealth needed to support it, and if you have some way to provide for your other offspring. Too often neither is the case.
