• Re: Why not ban usury?

Clayton, it looks like the key issue isn't all about interest, its the fact that courts don't enforce the tool of the performance bond, as described by Rothbard in Ethics of Liberty. So they have to use other vague measures, such as including interest. And it looks like the issue is a problem with the "innocent until proven guilty"

"No doubt the "government as creditor" is the worst of all possible worlds, far worse than private creditors who must at least stop when collection costs exceed the assets they are trying to recover. But I'm going more to the principle of the matter - it's not just about car loans and mortgages, it's about any kind of claim

Take a look at the video. I think the statement "Planning is the kiss of death of entreprenuership" is not true as written. Rather the mistake is planning without sufficient knowledge. Instead of not planning, the presenter talks about how a change of strategy helped. Its not that he stopped planning, but would form plans by actually getting

" you use governmental services every waking moment of your life - from roads to bridges to public education and after school programs. the civilization as a whole could not exist without taxes." Ok. I use violence to make myself the only provider of clothes in the world. Everyone uses my shoes, otherwise they would be barefoot and could not

  • Re: Simple, obvious question about fractional reserve banking - I just wanna be sure I've got this right.

I think you have your numbers wrong: "Joe, John, and Julie each deposit $100 in the Bank of Dan - so the Bank has $300 in deposits. At a fractional reserve of 10%, the Bank of Dan can now lend Mark, Mary, and Mabel each $1,000 - purely as accounting entries. This is the point almost everyone makes, but I haven't seen the next step stated clearly
Prosecutorial/judicial immunity in action . I'm not sure if Greenwald understands that there is zero possibility of any recourse here. This tragedy happened precisely because there is not the slightest possibility of any legal recourse against the prosecutors in this case. Clayton -
I guess the biggest hurdle
