  • Re: How did the American economy recover from busts before 1913?

Here's one example: "In addition to financial deregulation, notes historian Jeffrey Hummel, Van Buren "thwarted all attempts to use economic depression as an excuse for expanding government 's role Henry Clay and the Whigs (including a young Abraham Lincoln) viewed the depression as a political opportunity to get the federal government

I still (regretfully) have not read it but I've heard that Healing Our World is great for someone coming from a left-liberal perspective.

  • Re: Book recommendation for an empirical case against the state?

From here : Bruce L. Benson's The Enterprise of Law is the most comprehensive empirical-historical study of anarcho-capitalism. Benson provides abundant empirical evidence for the efficient operation of market-produced law and order. Benson's sequel To Serve and Protect is likewise to be recommended. David D. Friedman's The Machinery of

Not sure how mainstream these works are but Lew Rockwell has an extensive bibliography on "The South and Southern History": http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/wilson5.html

  • Re: Historians Supporting the New Deal

As noted above I simply did a search and read some reviews. Most of them I haven't read myself. Off the top of my head I can only think of Old Right contemporaries, John T Flynn and Garret Garett (Salvos Against the New Deal) . They could be an interesting addition even with their bias. And some of their works are available on this website( Flynn

How about with the ACTUAL 25 point Nazi Platform which includes the following: The full text of the 25 point program We demand the unification of all Germans in the Greater Germany on the basis of the right of self-determination of people. We demand equality of rights for the German people in respect to the other nations; abrogation of the peace treaties

  • Re: Historians Supporting the New Deal

I don't have any expert knowledge but just performed a search myself out of curiosity. THE mainstream liberal historian (and revisionist imo) is Schlesinger. I haven't read "The Age of Roosevelt" series and they are a bit dated but your history professor will most likely salivate over your choice if your willing to do the reading.
