• Re: Kokesh plans loaded open carry rally in DC, where it's illegal
But, my guess is that it doesn't even happen. he said he won't do it without ten thousand people.
I don't know anything about this event, except from this topic, but what you're saying strikes me as right. That's really my guess as well. But theorethically I can't think of a reason why I, as an anarchist, would
Bringing loaded weapons is a recipe for disaster, especially since it only takes one guy to fire his to cause a serious problem between the marchers and the police.
Define disaster. Disaster in what terms? Is it a disaster, or a holiday?
As GL pointed out, it takes just one testosterone/steroids-addled cop, just one agent provocateur
Marching is one thing, but is marching with loaded weapons in a city where this is illegal (and Washington, D.C. no less) really the most prudent type of march possible?
No, it is not the most prudent type of march possible. Apparently they aren't aiming for prudent. It's not the highest value for them. They're aiming for

Congratulations. First I thought this was silly of Kokesh, but then I saw how the reaction to his silliness is even sillier so that now I have to side with Kokesh. Congratulations for making me pro-Kokesh march. Guy wants to do something that's ballsy and that he has a right to, and all you can think about is how this is going to make *you* look

  • Re: Historian Niall Ferguson
you know academic's books are good when they are published by Penguin . you'd think a professor at harvard would at least attempt a University press or a private sector academic publisher (Sage or routledge).
I'd say this was epic fail, but coming from you I'm afraid it's just another day in the week.

Shall we do one for "ReadRothbard"? I DON'T ALWAYS TALK UP MY ATTRACTIVE FEMALE FRIENDS BUT WHEN I DO, IT'S TO ARGUE POLITICAL THEORY

  • Re: Would you support a military coup?

Besides Allende's real crime was not his socialism, but the fact he would take his country away from under US dominance. He was friendly with Moscow, but the USSR could never project real power in the Western Hemisphere ergo Chile would have been externally free. Pinochet was a satrap of the Empire who made certain his country remained a satrapy

  • Re: Is it possible for the government to artificially lower the price of gold/silver?

They can't lower the price for long. They can start selling what metal they have and lower and keep the price low for a while but that is just temporary. (Albeit it sucks if that's precisely when you need to cash in some of it for liquidity.) Problem is, however, in a some kind of SHTF scenario they can make ownership of metal illegal, or slap

  • Re: Django Unchained.

I think the German guy was unintentionally a good allegory for liberals. He nearly ruins everything for Django and Brunhilda when he won't shake hands. Demonstrating once more that with liberals it isn't really about helping out the disadvantaged but about soothing their own emotions. To keep his pride the German is quite willing to screw up
