From the ruins (or at least in the near future) I am trying to write something that captures what I am living and at the same time reflects what I am thinking, but none of the experiences I am about to live in this year will compare to what I have lived so far. The Venezuelan government and the citizens will confront the worse economic situation in all of our history, tremendous pressure in the currency from years and years of pumping inorganic money and subsidizing everything from parking lots to gasoline.

I have taken as a resolution for this year to write as much as I can as this crisis evolves.

more coming soon....

Summed to the terrible conditions I had to go through yesterday are the unexistant exits to overcome or even forget for one minute what just happened. There is absolutely no security when going out after 7pm, the streets are dark and in darkness reigns all evil, even if you do get to your destination safely, when you get there there is nothing much you can do, you cant buy alcohol after 9pm and even if you do you find booze at inflated prizes. So the only viable option is to stay home alone, because nobody dares to visit and just stare at the cealing.

I wihsh it had frozen with everything going well (though it never was well), but either something looks the same or it has deteriorated greatly. Thanks to the distortions the big socilist State creates in our lifes we have lsot any type of social bonds, crime rates have gone up and people dont seem to care to step over you to get to their workplace or home in the midst of the chaotic traffic or if they kill you because you had the big courage to cut in line.

According to recent underground information (the government or better yet the "revolution" will never accept this kind of info) sexual abbuse among the 80% poor class and the diminishing middle class has increased a lot. Hospitals and sexual abbuse foundations are packed with cases, the morgue piles up bodies from the massive killings that happen over the weekend ( about 100 murders per weekend, more than Irak in one week) But it doesnt stop there, consumer prices have gone up, along with interest rates and along traffic, crime, employment and eveything points out to the government sticking its dirty hands into every single aspect of your life.

"Power corrupts" but let me tell you the lack of power over you own life and the frustration from not being able to buy anything to eat without working your heart out during the week and having to drive for about 4 hours everyday just to get to anywhere, and the envy from seeing good-for-nothing neighbors who have gone from average joe to big-rich-with-a-brand-new-hummer joe just by "associating"with the local or national government. Government corrupts itself but mostly corrupts you.
