Barack Obama: The Peace Maker
Be of good cheer my Austrian friends! Our new overlord has proved yet again the factual truth of his divinity. President Barack Obama is now the recipient of the people's medal of peace also knows as the 'Nobel Peace Prize.' Apparently continuing unjust wars under the façade of American imperialism and neo-mercantilist...I mean global security and human rights *wink wink* no longer disqualifies applicants for such a title. The reason cited for Obama winning this prize is 'for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.'[1] That is right ladies and gentlemen, you heard correctly over the bombs being dropped on the innocents of Middle East. Obama really isn't contemplating sending thousands of soldiers to Afghanistan this very moment you are reading this article, we wants to send humanitarians. You should think of them like doctors without borders...but with the weapons of mass destruction. On the topic of weapons of mass destruction, don't you just love the strengthening of diplomacy through rattling the saber in the face of Iran? How can it be denied that disallowing the nuclear research of another country is not based on cooperation? Iran does what it is told and the United States is benevolent enough to tell it what to do, cooperation achieved.
The Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts were started under the Bush administration, not under Obama, so Obama naturally cannot be blamed for conceiving such conflicts. However, how long does the American populace have to wait until Obama gets around to figuring out that we should not only be bringing our troops home due to the unethical nature of these wars but also that he can actually save money by doing it! Is anyone really going to buying this medal? America the global bully is still giving wedgees to the school kids and the teacher is giving us a golden star? Perhaps we have just taken the next step towards an Orwellian society. War has suddenly become the new flavor of the week. Not only will war bring you new colonies to coerce into oppressive regulations, of course under the system of 'free-trade', but you will get a medal and a nice cash bounty for doing it. Gabriel Mably couldn't invent a better medal system then this!
Perhaps we are expecting too much from the title of the Nobel Peace prize. Should we really expect much peace from an organization that bestowed this 'honor' onto Theodore Roosevelt? Good old Teddy being that rough riding, dog shooting, cowboy outfit wearing conqueror of the 'backward' Philippine people. This honor was also conferred on to Woodrow Wilson. Here is certainly a man who brought peace, through Wilsonian interventionism, to the world. Let us not also forget the wonderful Wilsonian word of freedom solely of peace, as long as each country is democratic. Peace time central planning? Bring it on I say! Global intervention in foreign nations? We're already on it. Democracy through democide? Well people have to be shown the fruits that democracy brings, even if we need to kill them to liberate their minds. These are the individuals who stand next to Obama in the limelight of peace. Perhaps he does belong with some of history's worst..I mean greatest war-time presidents. So I say again ladies and gentlemen, be of good cheer! Our leaders are being rewarded for their policies of death and they are becoming the 'peace makers' of our new dysfunctional world. One can only hope that some unknowing amateur presidential assistant doesn't into Obama's office with Thomas E. Woods Jr's We Who Dared to Say No to War with the illuminating realization that maybe war really isn't a 'good thing.' He might even try to slip Obama a copy of Murray Rothbard's What Has Government Done to Our Money?...just to be sure that Obama knows about this whole 'money' phenomena. The horror ladies and gentlemen...the horror.

Brother, if we keep getting news like this, you are going to have to change your nick to "Crying Man".

I'm sorry but you have forced my hand.

Ah I just realized that some parts of my article were cut out.
:Edited the article: I don't know why it cut it off.
I say old chap this peace prize business is funner than a barrel full of Bloomberg monkeys.
People say things haven't changed, Obama = Bush etc, but he's started pulling out of Iraq, he has scrapped the missile plan in Europe and the "don't ask don't tell" policy in the army, and now he's about to reform the health care system. He has created a better climate between USA and many other nations.
He's also working to get rid of the nuclear weapons of this world.
alimentarius: but he's started pulling out of Iraq, he has scrapped the missile plan in Europe
The administration is seriously considering invading iran right now btw.
alimentarius:and the "don't ask don't tell" policy in the army
yay all hail obama. Oh wait he hasn't actually repealed it yet! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_ask,_don%27t_tell#Barack_Obama.27s_position Ah, another obama supporter with the wrong facts... Even when he does pass it it will be so minor... Gays aren't like other minority groups. Their average income is higher than any ethnic group's (around 50,000). But people have been hating on DADT for a long time.
alimentarius:He has created a better climate between USA and many other nations.
Back to the international: Well... all his speeches around the middle east endorsing isreal don't really help things. If there's one thing they hate more than America it is isreal. If you don't know about that you should look into it.Our relationship with europe doesn't matter. They're not going to trade with us any more just because they like our president. For the record, I don't value the praise of a bunch of lazy left wing white supremacists who think socialism works while they collaborate with the other G9 nations to keep the third world in the shitthole so we can have cheap resources and labor. I don't know if you know about that you should look into it. Not sure what NK thinks about Obama. Kind of don't care.
alimentarius:He's also working to get rid of the nuclear weapons of this world.
And then like, there's the stuff you don't mention, like Obama's economic policies and reappointing Bernake to the fed and bla bla. I won't go into it here but there is more than enough info on mises.org for you.
This Nobel prize took people completely by surprise. President Obama had been in the office for less than two weeks when he got nominated... even if he were truly committed what could have done in such a short time span? I have very little sympathy for Lech Walesa but for once we agreed on something "what has he done to deserve it?". We can say the same thing about Mr Fat Cat himself, Al Gore: what has he done except spout out tons of lies and causing people to quarrel? Prizes are usually awarded to people who actually did something, not people who promised to do something. I'll ask to get the Nobel prize for medicine because I'll promise to cure cancer... let's see how far that will get me!
Personally I believe this Nobel proves a number of things:
Obama is only the third sitting US president to receive a Nobel Peace Prize.
First one was Theodore Roosevelt for helping negotiate the peace treaty that ended the Russo-Japanese War. If I am not mistaken, it was already extremely clear that Japan had decisively defeated Russia and both sides wanted the war to end already so would I be wrong in assuming ol Teddy just talked about some minor particulars? Must of been a slow year for for the committee.
Second one was Woodrow freaking Wilson. The man that ran on a re-election platform that bragged about how he kept America out of WW1 and then turned around and joined WW1 anyway. Then he went around and banned anti-war or pacifistic speech. This was probably the single most ironic awarding of a Nobel Prize Peace prize ever. And the specific reason he got the peace prize, it seems to have to do with his doctrine of "(selective) Self-Determination" which is probably one of the worst things to hit civilization. Oh and that League of Nations thing and we all know how well that worked out.
The trend Obama is seeming to continue isn't really all that of a promising one.
One of the reasons they seem to have given Obama the prize was because he supports stopping nuclear proliferation of Iran. As opposed to what!? Giving Iran nukes? I guess the justification of a president saying he will try and stop the proliferation of WMDs nuclear weapons is how chic they are.
